چکیده
ABSTRACT Rhinoptera bonasus is a bento-pelagic and highly migratory species occurring from southern United States to northern Argentina. Due overfishing effects, R. currently at risk, classified by the IUCN Red List as vulnerable. Considering lack of molecular data available for bonasus, this study aimed describe genetic variability population structure specimens sampled three Brazilian coast ecoregions (Amazon ecoregion, Pará; Northeastern Pernambuco Southeastern Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo Santa Catarina), through five polymorphic microsatellite markers. Here testing panmixia hypothesis test natal philopathy. A total 69 analyzed revealed individual significant differentiation between locations. Φ ST (0.12), PCA, DAPC Bayesian analyses least two distinct groupings. IBD tests were significant, indicating correlation geographical distance among populations, which can be explained reproductive philopatric behavior. Philopatric behavior associated with mobility may influence values observed all loci in investigated samples.

Feeding biomechanics of the cownose ray, Rhinoptera bonasus, over ontogeny.
Growth affects the performance of structure, so the pattern of growth must influence the role of a structure and an organism. Because animal performance is linked to morphological specialization, ontogenetic change in size may influence an organism's biological role. High bite force generation is presumably selected for in durophagous taxa. Therefore, these animals provide an excellent study sy...
